- If it is for training: they are usually 4 oz, since the fingers are separated and have a lot of mobility. They can be too fine to spar with any intensity.

- If it's for sparring: 7 oz is usually used, since by wearing a little more protection we can hit harder without worrying about injuring the partner. We sacrifice mobility in the fingers to make grabs.

- If it is for competition: They are 4 oz., with little padding designed to protect hands.
