Muay Thai Shin Guards

Muay Thai shin guards are designed to protect the tibia and instep. In the market you can find two types of shin guards, rigid and sock type:

- The rigid ones: Also known as tubular, they provide more protection with high-quality padding to absorb impacts in the tibial area, such as the instep, with a velcro back closure made of the same material as the shin guard. They also come with an elastic to support the heel and prevent the shin guard from riding up. The only drawback that rigid shin guards have, which are very uncomfortable to work MMA, does not leave you freedom of movement to move around the floor and work on it. They are used in Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Full Contact, etc.

- Sock type: They are the ones used mostly in MMA, but they can be used in any contact sport. They do not bring as much protection as rigid shin guards, but they do give freedom of movement to work on the ground, which is what MMA fighters look for. With a high quality padding and its way of placing it is as if you were putting on a sock. Very comfortable.

You will find several models with one size in the market, but most of them you will find in sizes S, M, L or XL. To have an orientation reference we can classify in:

- Sizes: less than 37 cm (from instep to knee), less than 16 cm (from instep to foot).

- Size M: 37 cm to 38 cm (from instep to knee), 6.5 to 18 cm (from instep to foot).

- Size L: 39 cm to 40.5 cm (from instep to knee), 19 cm to 20.5cm (from instep to foot).

- Size XL: 40.5cm onwards (from the instep to the knee), more than 20.5 cm (from the instep to the foot).

The important thing about shin guards is that they fit the leg in the best possible way, without disturbing or limiting movements, since the wrestler will continually subject them to receiving blows and they must remain firm without moving.

The designs on the shin guards can be found to suit everyone, since there are endless shapes and patterns. You will find them from the most discreet possible to striking, and to the personal preferences of each one.
